This project features the art of hand lettering and applying gold leaf lettering on the transoms of the Colombo building. Gold leaf lettering and gold leaf signs were common on transoms in the Victorian era and thus recreated here. Only one transom remained from this period of which all the other numbers were styled after in a traditional Victorian manner. Each transom was completed on the inside of the glass using genuine 23 karat gold leaf in the same way they were completed 100 years ago. The Historic Colombo building located on the cusp of the Financial District, North Beach and Chinatown in downtown San Francisco was erected in 1914.
